Colors of Saudi Arabia 2016

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, opened the Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum, organized by the SCTH. The forum gained a special significance among creative projects in the Kingdom and the SCTH achieved their objectives in introducing the nation and its beauty and culture to the public, elevating the role of photos and tourism films in promoting domestic tourism, encouraging talented photographers, and creating promising opportunities in the tourism investment sector.

The Colors of Saudi Forum honored the event’s sponsors and business partners who contributed by supporting the forum and helped to achieve the principle of partnership and integration between the public and private sectors in support of national tourism.

Honoring the Winners of the Prince Sultan Award
Prince Sultan bin Salman Award is the most prominent award for photographers in the Kingdom and Gulf States because it appreciates the efforts of the Kingdom's citizens and honors the talent and creativity in photography, production and books. The significance of the award is not only its association with the name of Prince Sultan, who has devoted much attention to photography inside the Kingdom through the SCTH, but also by the various agencies which each year work together to select the winners in the award's categories. The award’s total prize fund is 200,000 SAR, distributed among four categories.

Honoring the Winners of Photography Contest
The fifth round of the Colors of Saudi Photography Contest attracted 1,371 photographers contributing 5,115 photos in the categories of: Saudi Arabia Today; Tourism Experience; National Heritage Landscapes and Nature; Saudi Arabia in the World's Eyes, and Smartphones. The total prize fund awarded was 750,000 SAR won by 30 photographers.

Honoring the Winners of the Tourism Films Contest
The previous Short Tourism Films Contest witnessed fierce competition among participants with a high level of quality in their submissions, in addition to attracting 124 participants who competed for five prizes with a total of 300,000 SAR in winnings. The Tourism Films Contest aims to develop and encourage the production of short tourism films, create competition between professional and amateur film producers, and support the talents to develop and produce short films about tourism.

Honoring the Juries
His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman, President of the SCTH, honored the jury members for the Colors of Saudi Contest which included a group of specialized jurors in photography and directing who were carefully chosen to guarantee the choice of the best works submitted according to the terms and criteria laid out by the organizing committee. Ten local and international experienced jurors assisted in the Colors of Saudi Arabia Contest 2016.

The Exhibition

In 2016 the Colors of Saudi Exhibition was marked by an increase in the number of participating entities, which reached 141, and varied between governmental agencies, private companies, individuals, associations and photography clubs. It also encompassed a number of distinguished pavilions, such as the government pavilions covering the Kingdom's history, heritage, culture and civilization, university pavilions alongside areas dedicated to photography groups and Saudi professional photographers.

The Scientific Program

The Scientific Program for the Colors of Saudi Forum 2016 was an important component of the forum. It contributed significantly in developing photographer and filmmaking skills. It involved 30 lectures on photography, films and fine arts by more than 20 local, Arab and international speakers. more
